People have lived in this area for over 12,000 years, and archaeology can tell us about their lives.

Colonial and Post-Colonial Period

Europeans began to settle along the Patuxent River in the late 1630s.  During the Colonial and Post-Colonial Periods, the JPPM property changed hands several times and was a part of several milestones in local history, including serving as a meeting place of the Maryland General Assembly.
