Description: Toy cap pistol

History: These cap guns were very popular toys for boys from the 1870s to 1900. Large amounts were manufactured in America by many toy makers. The placement of the cap on the top of the gun indicates it was made before the 1890 (O’Brien 1993:457). These guns were often highly decorated, but the details have deteriorated from this piece.
